BREAKING: Inmate escapes from Greene County Jail

Inmate Eric Washington escaped from the Greene County Jail in Eutaw, Ala., Tuesday around 9 p.m. after overpowering guards and making off with their keys. Washington is described as a black male weighing 155 pounds, 5’11” tall, and was last seen wearing black shorts with no shirt. He was sentenced just last week for attempted murder of a law enforcement officer. He is considered armed and dangerous.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is leading the investigation at the request of Greene County Sheriff Joe Benison. Neighboring agencies are assisting in the search.
