Wilma Bly Slade
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Bly Slade, age 96, will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at 2 p.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. John Bonner officiating. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, Ala.
On Jan. 31, 1920, Mrs. Slade was born to the late Leander Ben & Mattie Watkins Pruett. She had 9 siblings: Irma Dismukes, Euvera Gladys Schroeder, Jennie Rebecca Stokes, Bennie Pruett, Frank Kimbrough Pruett, Barbara Robinette, Margaret Sealy, Sarah Holcomb, and William Vaughn Pruett. For 49 years, she was married to William Gaines (Jack) Slade. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at her residence at the Thomasville Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Slade gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Magnolia United Methodist Church. During Mrs. Slade’s life, she was an Avon Representative, Inspector for Vanity Fair in Demopolis, and a Rural Mail Carrier.
Survivors include her daughters: Martha Slade Smith (Jack) of Prattville, AL; Onie Salatto Nelson of Auburn, AL; Judy Slade Walters (Marcus) of Nanafalia, AL; her sons: Gaines Burchfield Slade, Sr. (Ina) of Montgomery, AL; Winfred Frank “Winky” Slade (Sue) of Magnolia, AL; 11 grandchildren: Cynthia Deloris Slade of Nashville, TN, Jordan Kent Slade of Ecletic, AL; Jason Brent Slade of Magnolia, AL; Kevin Gaines Smith of Memphis, TN; Tammy Walters Lewis (Matt) of Sweet Water, AL; Karen Ann Smith (Gil) of Barcelona, Spain; Wendy Walters Norton (Terry) of Thomasville, AL; Kimberly Slade Whorton (Ben) of Warrior, AL; Patrick John Salatto III of Auburn, AL; Gaines Burchfield Slade, Jr.; of San Antonio, TX; William Bowen Slade (Brittney) of Nashville, TN; 13 great grandchildren: John Matthew Lewis, Jr., Ivey Slade Lewis, Marcus Gray Norton, Thomas Walters Lewis, Slade Patrick Salatto, Mary Evelyn Norton, Zoe Rebekah Whorton, Megan Susanne Whorton, Benjamin Clayton Whorton, Dylan Slade Garcia Smith, Gaines Gilford Smith, Sydney Kate Salatto, and Anna Camille Garcia Smith.
Pallbearers will be Brent Slade, Kent Slade, Kevin Smith, Trey Salatto, Gaines Slade, Bowen Slade, Matthew Lewis, Ivey Lewis, Thomas Lewis, Marcus Gray Norton, Slade Salatto, Clay Whorton, Dylan Garcia Smith, and Gaines Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Thomasville Healthcare & Rehabilitation, Dr. Frank L. Dozier, and Southern Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Magnolia Cemetery Fund at Post Office Box 62, Magnolia, AL, 36754.
