Wednesday morning accident on U.S. 80 East

Demopolis Police and Fire Departments, along with AmStar EMS, responded to an accident in the French Creek area on U.S. 80 East at approximately 11 a.m. Wednesday. Westbound traffic was diverted to the eastbound lane while officials worked the accident.

The accident involved a Toyota Tundra pickup truck and an Alabama Department of Transportation truck.

One of the two passengers in the pickup was lifted from the scene by Air Evac. Two of the three passengers in the ALDOT vehicle sustained injuries that were treated at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital.

Emergency responders remained on the scene for more than an hour following the accident, which occurred just after 11 a.m.
