WCCS Demopolis continues to grow in numbers, add courses for area students

College courses in Demopolis continue to draw an increasing number of students to the Demopolis Higher Education Center, home of the Demopolis campus of Wallace Community College Selma.

“We are excited about the continued growth of both our enrollment as well as our program offerings on the Demopolis campus,” said Blaine Hathcock, campus director. “We look forward to future program expansions as we continue to find ways to serve our community and surrounding area.”

This fall the WCCS Demopolis campus offered 12 classes on site for its 370 dual, part-time and full-time students, he said. That was in addition to a full schedule of on-line course offerings.

With growing enrollment, the campus continues to increase enrollment and expand course offerings, Hathcock said. It offers students in Marengo, Sumter, Greene and Hale counties an affordable, convenient option to pursue academic or technical college courses.

Serving as the community college dual enrollment provider, WCCS Demopolis allows high school students in the area to take college classes while also receiving high school credit.

The Demopolis campus this fall has dual enrollment students from A.L. Johnson, Demopolis, Greensboro, Greene County, Hale County, Linden and Sumter Central high schools and University Charter School in Livingston.

Course offerings are offered in convenient formats and times that enables students to attend classes around their schedule, Hathcock continued.
