War House Cinemas holds ribbon-cutting; Bryant plans more family-oriented entertainment

War House Cinemas joined the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce Thursday with a ribbon-cutting event.

Richard “Tank” Bryant cuts the ribbon to join the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.

But the drive-in movie theater is only part of the War House brand started by Richard “Tank” Bryant. It also includes the War House Gym and War House Rentals for small businesses, all located in the former Demopolis Academy campus.

Bryant is pleased with the success of the theater. “I couldn’t have asked for a better reception,” he said.

The ribbon-cutting came as the family-oriented complex was getting ready for a haunted house event this weekend. The seven rooms of the house mirror popular horror movies and feature 30 participants to add to the spooky experience. Along with the haunted house, the theater will be showing horror movie double features, said Bryan, a fan of slasher movies.

Bryant said he is scheduling more events for the family. A magic show showcasing an act featured on the Tonight Show is set for Nov 19.
