UWA to close at 3 p.m. Tuesday for threat of severe weather

LIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in response to the threat of severe weather during the afternoon and evening. This closing includes UWA Campus School, Julia Tutwiler Library, University Cinema, Subway, and Starbucks, and all University activities and programs are suspended.

Young Hall Cafeteria and Grille Works in Gilbert Hall will remain open. Should our area go under a severe weather watch, the Student Union Building (SUB) Fitness Center will remain open until 10 p.m., only as a shelter. The bottom floor of Wallace Hall will be open as an additional shelter, and those with pets should go to Wallace Hall.

Resident students should follow the emergency relocation plan in place in the event of building evacuations.

The University community is urged to follow the recommendations set forth in the severe weather alerts issued by the National Weather Service.
