UWA goalie gets GSC award

rp_primary_Wsoc_13-10-11_IMG_0003aLIVINGSTON — University of West Alabama freshman goalkeeper Issy Foster was named the Gulf South Conference Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week on Tuesday. Foster marks the third Tiger to earn the weekly honor this season.

The Telford, England native posted the program’s single-season record of five shutouts in a 1-0 victory against GSC rival Alabama-Huntsville on Friday. She allowed only one goal against Union on Sunday. Over both matches she recorded 13 saves on a total of 22 shots faced.

Foster now owns the second most single-season saves with 57 on the year. She is 8-4 in the goal.

Foster and the Tigers return to their home pitch on Friday to take on GSC opponent Delta State. The match is set for 5 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
