UWA exhibit to feature 17 Sumter County artists

LIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama will display 17 local artists’ pieces during its summer art exhibit, Accent on Art: Sumter County, in Webb Hall Gallery.

A reception honoring the artists is scheduled for Thursday, July 10, from 2 until 3:30 p.m. in the gallery located on the first floor of Webb Hall. Art on display includes a variety of formats including wood carving, china painting, dress making, painting, doll making, furniture making, and knife making.

Local artists featured in the exhibit include Christy Abbey, Louise Boyd, Mary Neville Boyd, Bonnie Campbell, Karen Castleman, James Cockrell, Peggy Colvin, Burton Fuller, Margaret Hagood, Alan Hall, Sheila Hull, Jane Hurtt, Frances Leverett, Lilly Mack, Nathan Purath, Tut Riddick, and Claire Smith.

The Accent on Art: Sumter County display will be featured throughout the month of August on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
