UWA basketball signs pair of transfers

LIVINGSTON, Ala.– The West Alabama Men’s Basketball program continues a summer of growth as both LaJuan Hardy and Ricky Dunnaway have signed their National Letter of Intent to join the program for the upcoming school year.

Hardy heads to UWA after spending last season with the Southwestern College Moundbuilders where he averaged 15.4 points a game and 73 percent from the free throw line. Hardy scored a season high 35 points against conference opponent McPherson (Kan.) College which included a 7-for-15 effort from behind the arc.

The 6-foot guard from Houston, Texas attended Victory Prep played in all 31 games for the Grizzlies.

Dunnaway, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward, redshirted last season at Tennessee Tech and was part of 44 wins in two seasons at Walters State Community College where he averaged 13.8 points and 9.1 rebounds during his sophomore season while shooting 48.5 percent from the floor. His efforts led them to an at large bid into the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchinson, KS. Scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds in the 1st round game against Gillete College.

The native of Murfreesboro, Tenn. Attended Oakland High School, majored in Business at Walters State and was named to the All-Tennessee Community College Athletic Association Team as a freshman.
