Two Marengo County students among those honored at UWA

McIntyre, CiaraLIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama recently recognized outstanding students for their academic achievements and leadership roles at the institution’s annual Honors Day. Honorees and their guests were treated to a reception at the Bell Conference Center before the Honors Day Convocation in Bibb Graves Auditorium.

Ciara McIntyre of Dixon’s Mills was inducted Blue Key, Cardinal Key and Omicron Delta Kappa honor societies. The junior exercise science major is the daughter of Timothy and Raycelia McIntyre.

Taylor, TerryTerry Taylor of Demopolis received a University Scholars Award from the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics for biology comprehensive. The biology comprehensive major is the son of Terrie and Berry Taylor.

In addition to recognizing student honorees, the University inducted four graduates, Dr. Anita F. Austin of Choctaw County, Ala., Dr. R.T. Floyd of Livingston, Ala., and Dr. Bobby Hathcock of Pell City, Ala., and Truel Hicks of Livingston, Ala., into the Society of the Golden Key. Induction into the Society is the highest honor bestowed upon a UWA graduate or professor.
