Two DHS students victims of accidental drowning

Two Demopolis High School students drowned Friday afternoon at the City Landing in Demopolis.

Demopolis Police Officers and Demopolis Fire and Rescue responded to a call of accidental drowning at 3:14 p.m. “One female subject (was) visible in the water, and she was pulled out with no serious injuries,” said DPD Rex Flowers.

The Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue dive team and the ALEA Marine Police Division recovered two other subjects in the water, a male and another female. They were pronounced dead by the Marengo County Coroner.

The three students had gone to the city landing after school was dismissed 11:30am.

“We would like to ask that everyone please keep the family, friends, students and staff members of the Demopolis City Schools and our community in your prayers,” said Chief Flowers.
