Two Demopolis businesses cited for selling nicotine products to minors

Two Demopolis businesses face “administrative action” Thursday after their employees sold merchandize illegally to minors.

Demopolis Police Chief Rex Flowers issued the following press release:

“After receiving complaints from parents regarding several businesses selling vape, tobacco and other nicotine products to underage minors, the Demopolis Police Department, along with Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, State Bureau of Investigation, conducted compliance checks to find stores illegally selling to minors.

“Two stores completed the sale of nicotine products to a minor. These stores were Sunoco Gas Station located at 413 US Highway 80 West and the Smoke Outlet and Phone Repair located at 965 U.S. Highway 80 West Suite 200. The employees that were found to be out of compliance were issued citations to appear in court, and the businesses will face administrative actions through the ABC Board.

“The Demopolis Police Department will continue to complete compliance checks to find stores that illegally sell products to minors.”

Flowers said anyone with information regarding businesses illegally selling products to minors is asked to contact the Demopolis Police Department at 334-289-3073 or the DPD tip line at 334-216-4077. Callers may remain anonymous.
