Tigers No. 12 in CFA Division II Preseason Top 30

West Alabama, the defending Gulf South Conference champion, is ranked No. 12 in the College Football America 2018 Yearbook Division II preseason Top 30. The Tigers are one of four GSC teams ranked in the top 30.

West Florida is ranked No. 1 in the preseason by CFA. UWA split a pair of games with the Argonauts last season, winning in the regular season and losing in the third round of the playoffs. UWF went on to lose in the national title game. In addition to the Tigers at No. 12, Delta State is ranked No. 22 and West Georgia No. 25.

UWA junior offensive tackle Brandon Anderson was also named to the College Football America 2018 Yearbook Division II Starting Lineup, CFA’s version of an All-America team.

From Bessemer, Alabama and Shades Valley High School, Anderson was an All-Region and All-GSC selection last season. He helped anchor an offensive line that led the Tiger offense to UWA single season records in total plays (980), pass completions (328) and first downs (295). He also helped lead Tigers to 5,700 yards total offense and 438.5 yards per game, 2093 rushing and 3607 passing with 59 offensive touchdowns.

The College Football America 2018 Yearbook features more than 930 college football teams from the United States and Canada in more than 300 striking, full-color pages.
