Tigers defeat Bulldogs, 3-1, in home opener (photo gallery)

The Demopolis Tigers varsity baseball team defeated the Sweet Water Bulldogs by a score of 3-1 in the Tigers’ home opener of the 2022 season. The Tigers picked up one run in the bottom of the first and the Bulldogs tied the game in the top of the second with a run of their own. The Tigers added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the top of the seventh for the 3-1 final.

Mac Bradley started on the mound and completed three innings for the Tigers. Bradley gave up one run on two hits, while striking out four and issuing no walks. Josh Holley relieved Bradley in the fourth. Holley did not surrender any runs on two hits, and struck out five and gave up one walk. The run yielded was an unearned run.

Walker Thompson started on the mound for the Bulldogs and completed five innings. Thompson gave up one earned run on six hits, while striking out eight and walking two. David Etheridge relieved Thompson in the sixth inning. Etheridge gave up two hits and one walk, resulting in two earned runs.

Holley led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three singles. Kevin McElroy went 2-for-2 with one single, one double and a walk. Montgomery Freeman, Vincent Deas and Drew Seymore collected one hit each. McElroy, Miles Knott and Jeremiah Bell scored runs for the Tigers.

William Etheridge led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two singles. Trace Luker and Payton Averette collected singles for the Bulldogs. Carlos Ledezma scored the run for the Bulldogs.
