They’re not pink ladies-or burgundy gentlemen-any more

Beginning Monday, the familiar pink smocks worn by the members of the Whitfield Regional Hospital Auxiliary will be history. Instead the women who make up the volunteer organization will be wearing teal jackets, and men who are members will sport teal vests instead of the burgundy they had been wearing.

WRH Auxiliary vice president George Smith tries on his teal smock as new uniforms were distributed Thursday, In the background, members who already had on their jackets pose for pictures.

Auxiliary members received the new jackets at their meeting Thursday. Uniform suppliers have been phasing out the pink smocks. Since WRH now is known by its teal and blue logo, the Auxiliary decided to honor the theme. The smocks and vests are embroidered with the WRH logo.

The color of the uniform may have changed, but Johnnie Knott, president of the group, said the members will continue to provide the same pleasant and helpful service to patients and visitors for which they have been known for decades.
