T-Mobile opens store in Marengo Square

T-Mobile opened its Demopolis store Monday and held a ribbon cutting as the newest member of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.

Reyna Woody cuts the ribbon for the new T-Mobile store in Demopolis, as store employees look on. Demopolis City Councilman Bill Meador, Mayor Woody Collins, Chamber Board Member Jeff Davidson and Chamber Director David Lyons were on hand for the celebration.

Reyna Woody, temporary manager of the store, said T-Mobile is the leading 5G network in the country and covers almost all of Alabama. Its focus, she said, is to bring 5G service to all rural Alabama. As part of that effort 20 new locations are opening in the state, including the one in Demopolis.

“We are here to engage with the community,” said Woody, who has worked for T-Mobile for 12 ½ years. “Cell phones are what connect us.”

The store, located in Marengo Square next door to the State Farm office, will employ eight people. Woody said three have been trained, and they are still hiring.
