Sweet Water spikes Pike in playoff tuneup

Sweet Water played like Sweet Water is expected to play Friday night. In a season that has seen the Bulldogs lose four games to high quality teams, Pat Thompson’s squad capped the regular season with a complete domination of Class 3A, Region 2 champion Pike County 40-6.

Sweet Water won every major statistical category handily. The Bulldogs amassed 408 yards of offense on 61 snaps. Pike snapped it 30 times for 118 yards.

Jacory Brown paced the effort with 177 yards rushing on 26 carries while scoring three touchdowns. Chastian Washington rushed for 70 yards and a score while Jaylin Dixon had 44 yards rushing and a TD. Trace Luker caught a touchdown pass from Braiden Broussard.

Sweet Water (6-4) travels to Class 1A, Region 3 No. 2 seed Maplesville to open the AHSAA state playoffs next Friday.
