Sweet Water runs over Shields

Sweet Water went to Beatrice on a business trip Friday night. The Bulldogs handled their business early and often, hanging 32 points in the first quarter on the way to a 57-6 win over J.F. Shields.

Chastian Washington opened the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown run. Braiden Broussard then hit Braylone Rodgers for the two-point conversion pass for the 8-0 lead. Kaleb Greene later scored on a 16-yard sprint and added his own conversion run. Greene then broke an 80-yard touchdown run before Broussard threw to his older brother Chance Broussard for the conversion play and the 24-6 lead.

Washington did it again with 22 seconds left in the opening quarter, scoring on an 8-yard run. Walker Thompson added the conversion run for the 32-6 lead.

Sweet Water added to the lead in the second quarter with Jaylin Dixon touchdown runs from a yard and six yards out. Jacory Brown scored on a 26-yard rush. Christian Dunning capped the scoring in the third with a 2-yard plunge.

The Bulldogs tallied 450 yards of offense with all but five of it coming on the ground. The Sweet Water ground game averaged an impressive 15.9 yards per carry in the game.

Greene finished with 155 yards on four carries. Washington added 92 yards on nine runs. Dunning had 89 yards on six attempts while Dixon chipped in 88 yards on seven rushes.

Harold Stallworth led Shields with 164 yards rushing on 18 carries. He also helped account for the lone Shields touchdown with a 23-yard scoring pass to Daron Marshall.

Greene and Dixon each intercepted a pass for the Bulldog defense.

Sweet Water (4-4, 3-2) wraps region play next week at Fruitdale.
