Sweet Water rolls past Thomasville for 10th straight win

Sweet Water stayed hot Friday night with a 7-1 win over nearby rival Thomasville. The Bulldogs did all of their scoring on big rallies in the third and sixth innings.

Luke Davis singled to open the top of the third before Shamar Lewis drew a walk. Davis scored on an error to make it 1-0 before Sasha Smith doubled home Lewis for the 2-0 lead. Hunter Mendenhall later singled in Smith to move it to 3-0. Braiden Broussard scored on a passed ball for the 4-0 advantage.

Sweet Water’s bats got back to work in the top of the sixth as Davis doubled in Mendenhall to make it 5-0. Taylor Lewis and Davis then scored on a passed ball for the 7-0 lead.

The offense was more than enough to support Jonah Smith’s effort on the mound. He struck out five batters over six and two-thirds innings of work while giving up one unearned run.

Sweet Water (10-0) is set to host Clarke County Saturday.
