Sweet Water hangs 62 on Shields in first half
It was all Sweet Water from the opening kick to the final whistle Friday night as the Bulldogs trounced J.F. Shields 69-0.
Damion Young returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown to set the Bulldogs up 7-0. R.J. Rodgers scored on a 36-yard run before Shamar Lewis ran it in from the 6.
Jaylin Johnson hauled in a 33-yard touchdown pass from Jonah Smith.
Rodgers added another touchdown run of 27 yards before Trent Sams picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown.
With 7:11 left in the second quarter, Will Huckabee caught a 24-yard touchdown strike from Smith. Xavier Lucy then scored on runs of 34 yards and 54 yards respectively to send it to half with a 62-0 Bulldog lead. Braiden Broussard scored on a 7-yard run in the third quarter to cap the scoring.
Sweet Water amassed 323 yards on only 16 offensive snaps. Lucy had 115 yards on three carries to lead all rushers. Sweet Water (3-1, 3-0) has an open date next Friday night before returning to action at Linden Sept. 30.
