Stenz buzzer-beater pushes MA to 19-0

CAROLLTON — It took every single tick of the clock Monday night, but Marengo Academy remained unbeaten with a last-second 46-44 win over Pickens Academy.

With 29 seconds to play in the contest, Conner Etheridge connected on a free throw to knot the score at 44. With 0.7 left in the game, Chandler Stenz connected on a jumper from the free throw line to give MA the win.

The win moved the Lady Longhorns to 19-0 on the season.

Brooke Smyly led MA with 17 points. Chandler Stenz added 14 points for the Lady Longhorns.

Etheridge finished with five while Andrea Edmonds and Anna Michael Crocker each chipped in four. Victoria Belcher finished with two points for MA.

The Lady Longhorns are scheduled to host South Choctaw Tuesday night.
