Selma officer-involved shooting leaves one dead; SBI investigating

Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating a Selma Police Department officer-involved shooting at the request of the Selma Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at a residence in the 700 block of King Street. The subject, who was reportedly armed with a firearm during a domestic dispute, was fatally wounded by gunfire.

A female victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the domestic incident. The officer involved was treated for minor injuries. Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Dallas County District Attorney.
