Ever wanted to know how to tie a scarf in a stylish braided knot? Or are you struggling to find a tying guide with simple easy-to-follow instructions and styles that still look fresh today rather than dated looks from decades ago? Then your search is over! The Demopolis Public Library will teach you six unique ways to tie a scarf on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

“You may not think of the library when you think about clothing and accessories,” says Library Director Morgan Allen. But with the economy slowly recovering, people are looking for ways to save money and ways to reuse what they already have. I thought this class would be great for our patrons with limited budgets or for those who want to learn something new in a group setting. It’s great to get ideas from the internet and Pinterest, but sometimes hard to execute them at home. Tying a scarf sounds simple, but there are many unique ways that this one piece of fabric can transform your appearance without you spending a lot of money. I’m hoping this class will lead to others. We want our patrons to know that we are more than just books. The library is a stimulating place to interact and learn and has resources that helps you meet your educational, professional, and recreational needs. We are books and beyond.”

One of the most enduring fashion accessories that have never lost their appeal are scarves. Generations have worn them across several centuries. Worn for functionally throughout the world to provide warmth and protection against the bitter cold, or worn for its religious and cultural significance… their use of one has also evolved into other purposes. The most basic benefit that one can get from this accessory is the style, flair and fashion sense that it can add or enhance to a dull or drab outfit or dress that you might have at the moment.
