Rev. Jim Etheredge

James “Jim” E. Etheredge age 92 of Sweet Water, AL passed away from this life on August 20, 2013 at Jeff Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS. He was by vocation highway engineer and Baptist minister for about 40 years. He loved the outdoor life and gospel singing, and served several rural churches as pastor. He served in the US Army from October 1942 to November 1945. He was a veteran of World War II and made the initial landing on June 6, 1944 at Omaha Beach and was in the Battle of the Bulge, December 1944 and January 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margie Evelyn Etheredge. He is survived by 4 sons, Jerry (Floyce) Dunn, Bruce (Wanda) Etheredge, Ted (Janet) Etheredge of Sweet Water, AL; and Danny (Judy) Etheredge of Nanafalia, AL; 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 6 great grandsons, and 3 great granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Hoboken Baptist Church on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Hoboken Baptist Church Cemetery in Sweet Water, AL. Arrangements by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, AL.
