Queen of the Diamond pageant supports softball

The first Queen of the Diamond Natural Beauty Pageant will be held Sunday, Oct. 27, in the Theo Ratliff Center from 2-6 p.m.

Sponsored by the West Alabama Royal Aces Travel Softball Team, the event will feature competition in five age groups: 0-4 years, “Tiny Miss Royal Ace;” K-second grade, “Little Miss Royal Ace;” grades 3-5, “Young Miss Royal Ace;” grades 6-8, “Junior Miss Royal Ace,” and high school, “Miss Royal Ace.”

Each age group will have a queen and first and second alternates. The winners will ride in a float in the Christmas on the River Parade.

In addition, the Miss People’s Choice will be the contestant that brings the most people to watch the pageant, and the Miss Diamond Queen will be chosen by the West Alabama Royal Aces Softball team.

Contestants have until Oct. 14 to register. Entry fee is $40, with optional side awards. They include prettiest eyes, prettiest hair, prettiest smile and best dressed, all for an extra $5 each.

Another side award is most photogenic. It requires a contestant to submit an 8-by-10 photo for a $10 entry fee. Additional photos – up to three – will be $5 each. If entering all side awards, the total fee is $25.

Admission to the pageant itself is free for children’s ages 0-4; $3 for ages 5-10, and $5 for all others.

Registration forms must be returned with cash or money order payable to the West Alabama Royal Aces or by Cash App $waroyalaces.
