Public meeting scheduled on proposed 4-lane Linden bypass

For years there has been talk of a bypass around Linden. Now the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will hold a Public Involvement Meeting on the Linden Bypass Monday, Nov. 15.

The meeting, scheduled for 4-7 p.m., will be held at the old National Guard Armory in Linden, 2404 E. Coats Ave.

ALDOT said the purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to take part in the planning process of the proposed four-lane highway east of Linden.

Representatives from ALDOT will be on hand to discuss the proposed project and answer any questions from the public.

Comment sheets will be available for those who want to make written statements. The comment sheets must be mailed or emailed on or before Dec. 1.

ALDOT said the purpose of the proposed bypass is to improve transportation connectivity from U.S. Hwy. 43 south of Linden to State Road 69 north of the city. The need, continued ALDOT, is to provide economic equity to an underserved part of the state.

Those who cannot attend the meeting but wish to make a comment may obtain a form from www.aldotinvolved.com. Forms may be emailed to lindenbypass@dot.state.al.us or mailed to ALDOT, ATTN: Stan Biddick, State Design Engineer, P.O. Box 303050, Montgomery, AL 36130.
