Pride scores two goals in win over MUW

The West Alabama Women’s Soccer team started the 2018 season with a bang, defeating Mississippi University for Women 4-0 in Columbus, Mississippi.

The Tigers were led by junior TeMia Pride, who scored the first and third goals of the game. Pride’s first goal in the 11th minute was assisted by junior Bailee Martin, while her second goal in the 23rd minute was unassisted.

The second goal of the game for UWA came at the 16th minute mark when Anele Komani found some rome at the net for a goal. Martin recorded the assist on the goal to finish with two on the day.  UWA’s fourth and final goal of the game came in the 32nd minute and was scored by junior Megan McGettigan with an assist from sophomore Anele Komani.

UWA recorded 26 shots with 14 shots on goal while only allowing four total shots with one on goal. Tiger goalkeeper Tabitha Weldon was only forced to make one save.

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow night in Tiger Stadium to take on the University of Tampa at 6 p.m. UWA will also face Saint Leo University at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2 in Livingston.
