Planned power outage postponed

Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese reported that Sunday’s planned downtown power outage has been postponed by Alabama Power Company in view of the threat of inclement weather in other areas.

Reese said the outage would take place the following Sunday should all go as planned.

The plan had been for Alabama Power Company to cut the power off downtown on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. The outage would affect traffic signals in addition to other services.

The sections affected will include the intersection of Washington Street and Walnut Street, the intersection of Washington Street and Main Street and the intersection of Capitol Street and Walnut Street.
