Perry pitches Demopolis to area title

GREENVILLE — Demopolis (11-10, 4-0) locked up the Class 5A, Area 6 championship and home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs Thursday with an 11-0 win over Greenville.

Tripp Perry anchored the victory, striking out 13 over six innings of work and allowing only two hits in the contest. Perry’s outing means the Demopolis pitching staff allowed only four hits to Greenville in two games this week.

Matt Eicher went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored. Seth Aiken scored two runs. Tyler Oates went 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored.

Michael Brooker finished 1-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI. John Anthony Morrison was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks and one RBI.

Jacob Rodrigues was 1-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Wil Stephens walked and drove in a run. Ryan Schroeder stole a base and scored a run.

Demopolis is set to play again Monday in a double-header at Hale County.
