OT loss bumps A.L. Johnson from playoffs

AUTAUGAVILLE – A.L. Johnson’s Eagles saw their 2013 season end in painful fashion Friday night with a 28-20 overtime loss to Autaugaville in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs.

“Turnovers is what made the difference,” said long-time A.L. Johnson head coach Mose Jones. “We turned the ball over six times. We just didn’t play well, didn’t execute well.”

Looking back over the season, Jones said he was pleased with his team’s effort in 2013. “I think we accomplished a lot,” he said. “We went 8-3 and went to the playoffs. I feel like our seniors went out as winners. We had a good group of seniors. I’d like to congratulate all my boys on a good season.”

Jones will now look ahead to 2014, which he has announced will be his last as ALJ’s head coach.
