New USJ principal Infinger meets stakeholders

Tori Infinger ended her first day on the job Monday as the new principal of U.S. Jones Elementary School being introduced to dozens of well-wishers who flocked to a reception in her honor at the Demopolis City Schools Board of Education office.

Teachers, staff, board members, city officials and students welcomed the newest member of the DCS family as Infinger tried to remember names and faces.

Infinger comes to Demopolis after serving as an assistant principal at Brewbaker Intermediate School in the Montgomery County School System. She succeeds Leon Clark who served as principal for the last four years.

The new principal had several reasons for seeking the job in Demopolis, beginning with the positive reports she had heard from her peers around the state. Those reports included U.S. Jones being named a Class of Distinction School.

“A lot of good things are going on” in Demopolis, she said.  “I decided this is the place I want to be a part of. The vision and the mission for the district is in line with my beliefs and my values.”

Coming from such a large district as Montgomery, she said it’s nice “to be part of a smaller system and a smaller setting. The personability of everyone here is just amazing.”

“Those are all the things that make a great school system even better,” she said. “I’m honored to be a part of Demopolis City Schools.”

Infinger is working with Clark for a two-week transition period as she becomes familiar with the school and its staff.

Her vision of U.S. Jones is one of “love, learning and leadership.”
