Mourning Friends help each other through grief

People who have lost those they love are coming together to give each other support during their journey of grief.

Mourning Friends will meet Tuesday, March 31, at 6 p.m. at Linden Baptist Church. For more information, contact the church at 295-4278.

Brenda Weaver, who lost her husband in October 2019, explained in a poem how she found a place to share her grief with those who understand. The poem reads in part:

“I am trying to find myself.

“I just cannot get my days, hours, minutes and seconds together.

“I began seeking out a ‘lean on’ or a shoulder for comfort, direction and moral support.

“Did not take long to realize ‘all’ those folks came, and then, they ‘all’ left.

“I accidently stumbled over a neighbor that has been on this same journey for many years.

“Our talking and sharing, while sitting under the evening shadow of the trees, crying and pouring our hurting hearts out was comforting to each other.

“Yes!!

“This is what we need, I need, and others need!

“A place where we can come together to share, to cry, be angry, to laugh, if possible, to find solace, love and YES, maybe even find ourselves again!”
