Mobile gas station shooter found hiding in Marengo County residence

Fox 10 News out of Mobile is reporting that an individual wanted for the shooting three people in a gas station robbery was apprehended in Marengo County.

According to the report, authorities captured Emanuel McAlpine, 21, on Bluebird Lane in Dixon’s Mills. Also known as “man-man,” McAlpine is believed to have shot three people during a Chevron gas station robbery in which he made off with a couple of packs of cigarettes.

Mobile Police Department officials said McAlpine was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit while hiding in a “manufactured concealed compartment within a closet” inside of a residence in Dixon’s Mills.

Authorities transported McAlpine to University Hospital where he received treatment for injuries inflicted by the K-9 during the arrest. MPD indicated those injuries were to McAlpine’s head and arms.

The incident precipitating the arrest occurred Tuesday, July 31 at a Chevron gas station at the corner of Sage and Emogene in Midtown Mobile. McAlpine is believed to be the individual on surveillance video who, during the robbery, shot two of the three gas station employees near the head.

McAlpine’s most recent prior arrest came earlier this year and stems from an incident in which he is said to have attacked an individual with a “hot shovel.” Bond in that case has been revoked. McAlpine will be charged with three counts of attempted murder and robbery first degree.
