Miss Bigbee pageant raises over $2000 for Bigbee Humane Society

Queens from the 2019 Miss Bigbee Beauties pageant assembled with some of the benefactors of proceeds from the pageant. In attendance were (L-R), Roree Meeks, Whitney Hall (Bigbee Humane Society representative), Olivia Tripp, Naudia Reed, Aubrey Dunavent, Journi Lawrence and Ashleigh Hood (pageant director). Not pictured are Cassidy Crawford and Kashlyn Burton, Miss Hospitality.

The Bigbee Humane Society held its second annual Miss Bigbee Beaties pageant at Marengo Academy on May 26, 2019. The event raised $2020 for the local Humane Society as well as 197 items to be used at the shelter, surpassing last year’s event. A total of 26 young ladies participated in the event, with queens being crowned in six age group divisions.

“We are so thankful for our community’s support in making our second pageant a bigger success than last year. We had a wonderful turnout. Ashleigh Hood worked tirelessly for months to bring everything together. She had a creative idea, as part of an entry the contestants collected supplies for the shelter,” said Whitney Hall, who works with the Bigbee Humane Society. “We collected over 197 items that we have already started using at the shelter. Businesses in Marengo County also donated items to be raffled off during the pageant as well. We raised a total of $2020. Bigbee Humane Society operates solely on donations, so without our community’s generously we could not continue to do what we do.”
