rp_primary_Golf_14-01-31_175FLORENCE – West Alabama freshman men’s golfer Lee Lann shot 76 in the third round of the Jim Bishop Toyota Classic on Tuesday to finish 16th place overall with 229. The Tigers improved one spot in the final day to finish 13th place with 948.

Host school, North Alabama led the 14 team field carding 302 in the final day to combine for 910. Missouri-St. Louis, who led the first two rounds, finished second with 914.

“We fought hard after a poor opening round,” said UWA head golf coach Adam Buie.

“Once again we we had to fight poor weather conditions, which seems to be a recurring theme for us. There were flurries of snow today as well as 30 mph winds, but the guys did not give up and played hard throughout. Lee Lann led us this week with a solid top-20 showing at one of the best DII men’s tournaments. The Robert Trent Jones – Fighting Joe course is one of the longest golf courses in the country.”

Trevor Page improved nine places in the standings in the final round to finish 41st with 238 overall. Will Walker and Wesley Etheredge tied for 59th with 243. Etheredge improved eight strokes, shooting 76 in the third round.

Chance Caylor tallied an 84 in the second day to finish with 255..

UWA will wrap up its regular season at the Campbell Oil Classic in Wallace, N.C. on March 29 before entering the Gulf South Conference tournament in Tunica, Miss. on April 20.
