Marengo varsity squads lose to Choctaw County

BUTLER — The Marengo High varsity basketball team ran into a strong Choctaw County squad Friday night, falling 60-28. Michael Kennedy had seven points, five rebounds and one steal to lead the Panthers (1-4).

Choctaw County saw Cashawn Chaney drop in 17 points to lead the Tigers.

The Marengo Lady Panthers fared little better, falling 55-24 to the Choctaw County Lady Tigers.

J’Mya Hall led Marengo (2-3) with 10 points, five steals, three rebounds and one assist. Angelique Chess had 15 points to lead Choctaw County.

The Marengo junior varsity opened the night with a 40-37 over the Choctaw County B-team. Roosevelt Thompson led MHS with 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Marengo is set to play again Tuesday when it hosts Southern Choctaw.
