Marengo, Linden schools to close early Thursday

Marengo County Schools Superintendent Luke Hallmark notified stakeholders just after 7 p.m. Wednesday that the system will close early Thursday with an eye on the potential for inclement weather.

“The Marengo County Board of Education and the superintendent would like to thank all of its faculty, staff, and students for their hard work and wish everyone a safe and Happy Easter! We will have an early dismissal of students tomorrow at 1:00 and faculty/staff at 1:30. Also, keep an eye on the high possibility of severe weather late tomorrow afternoon,” Hallmark wrote in an email.

Later in the evening, Linden City Schools Superintendent Dr. Tim Thurman made the decision to close the system at noon Thursday. The closing follow suit with other systems such as Hale County Schools, which announced earlier Wednesday that it will be closing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in view of severe weather.

The West Alabama Watchman will update any further closings as information becomes available.
