Marengo County now offering online license plate registration

Registering vehicles in Marengo County has become easier with the start of the EasyTag Program.

Probate Judge Laurie Hall said the new service is in partnership with Ingenuity, the county’s Probate’s License and Registration software provider.

With the new service, customers can electronically submit all documents and other necessary information to the Probate Office when a new or used vehicle is purchased from an Alabama dealer. Once the Probate Office receives the data from the dealership, the initial registration or registration transfer can be processed without the customer having to make a trip to the courthouse.

Once the registration is complete, the customer can pay online and receive their tag and receipts in the mail.

“Once I learned of this service, I immediately wanted to add it to my office,” said Hall. “EasyTag is a wonderful new program that fits my plan and goal of making it as easy as possible for all our Marengo County customers to conduct business.”

EasyTag is one more way the Probate Office is catering to those who prefer the convenience of transacting their business on their own time, continued Hall.

The office already offers online tag renewal, online boat registration renewal and online driver’s license renewals. “Adding EasyTag was the logical next step, falling in line with my customer service initiative of bringing the services to the people,” she said.

So far more than 500 customers have used the EasyTag service across the state. “It’s still a relatively new program, but we have some great county partners on board, and they’re seeing fantastic results and very happy customers,” said Daniel Huggins of Ingenuity.

With more customers using a personal computer or smart phone to register, counties can reduce waiting times at the office.

There is no cost to the county for the service. Each registrant pays a $10 convenience fee to Ingenuity.
