Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns Receive Awards

Several members of the Marengo Academy Lady Longhorns softball team received honors and awards during the Marengo Academy Spring Sports Banquet. Brittan Davis, Macey Petrey, Ryan Hale, Hannah Freeman, Payton Stokes and Mary Grace Sheffield received All-District honors.

Brittan Davis, sophomore, was named defensive MVP of the year. Mary Grace Sheffield, 8th grader, was named offensive MVP of the year.  Macey Petrey, junior, was named all around MVP of the year. Payton Stokes was honored with the Slugger Award and Ryan Hale, the Longhorn Award. Payton Stokes, Ryan Hale, and Deann Honeycutt were given captains awards. Hannah Freeman was awarded the Christian Leadership award. Payton Stokes was awarded the Academic Excellence award for having the highest GPA of the senior members.

Three players were also named to the junior and senior AISA West All-star teams. Macey Petrey was named to the AISA West All-Star team for the junior class. Payton Stokes and Ryan Hale were named to the AISA West All-Star team for the senior class. They will play in the AISA East/West All-Star game on June 7, 2016 at Lagoon Park in Montgomery. The junior game is set to begin at 5:30 pm and the senior game will follow at 7:30 pm.
