Local students recognized at UWA Honors Day

Barnhill, QuincyLIVINGSTON, Ala.—The University of West Alabama recently recognized outstanding students for their academic achievements and leadership roles at the institution’s annual Honors Day. Honorees and their guests were treated to a luncheon at the Bell Conference Center before the Honors Day Convocation in Bibb Graves Auditorium.

Quincy Barnhill of Sweet Water was inducted into Beta Beta Beta and Blue Key honor society. The junior biology comprehensive major is the daughter of Jeannie Walker and Derrell Barnhill.

Cannon, SavannaSavanna Cannon of Demopolis was inducted into Pinnacle and Sigma Tau Delta honor societies and received the Sociology University Scholars Award. The senior sociology major is the daughter of Aubrey Dickson.

Chelsea Etheridge of Gallion was received the Estelle Scales Scholarship. The junior accounting major is the daughter of Brett and Barbara Etheridge.

Etheridge, ChelseaAmber Hudson of Dixon Mills was inducted into Cardinal Key, Phi Kappa Phi, Psi Chi, and Sigma Tau Delta honor societies. The junior psychology major is the daughter of Tommy and Linda Hudson.

Katrena Kelley of Elberta was recognized for membership in Livingston Early Alumni Development. The sophomore elementary education major is the daughter of William Kelley and Gena Garrett.

Hudson, AmberCiara McIntyre of Dixons Mills was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma honor society. The sophomore exercise science major is the daughter of Timmy and Raycelia McIntyre.

Elizabeth Mims of Thomaston received the ASCPA Accounting Achievement Award. The senior accounting major is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Mims.

Trey Pickett of Demopolis was inducted into Blue Key and Delta Mu Delta honor societies. The junior accounting major is the son of Angela Carmier and Bobby Pickett.

Kelley, KatrenaRandall Sanders of Linden was inducted into the Kappa Mu Epsilon honor society. The junior mechanical engineering major is the son of Pat and Marsha Atkins and Randy and Jennifer Sanders.

Chelsea Tucker of Linden was recognized as Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. The junior psychology major is the daughter of Clyde and Costella Duke.

McIntyre, CiaraLayne Witherington of Sweet Water was inducted into the Beta Beta Beta honor society. The junior biology comprehensive major is the son of Celise and Ricky Witherington.

In addition to recognizing student honorees, the University inducted three graduates, Sylvia Burkhalter Homan of Demopolis, Ala., Glenda Sue Moore of Choctaw County, Ala. and Dr. Charles C. Woods of Birmingham, Ala., into the Society of the Golden Key. Induction into the Society is the highest honor bestowed upon a UWA graduate or professor.

Mims, ElizabethCalvinare Bell of Eutaw was inducted into the Alpha Chi honor society and received the Pinnacle Academic Achievement Award. The senior business administration major is thedaughter of Shawn Bell and Calvin Harmon.

Jennifer Buroker of Demopolis was recognized for membership in Students in Free Enterprise. The senior business major is the daughter of Randy and Mia Buroker.

Pickett, TreyJill Furlong of Brisbane, Australia was inducted into Delta Mu Delta and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. The senior accounting major is the daughter of Patrick and Jane Furlong.

Brandon Hay of Demopolis was inducted into Kappa Mu Epsilon honor society. The junior mechanical engineering major is the son of Larry and Cindy Hay.

Sanders, RandallTabitha Moore of Demopolis was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta honor society. The senior accounting major is the daughter of Tommy and Jennifer Moore.

Rebecca Murray of Demopolis was inducted into the Upsilon Pi Epsilon honor society. The senior mathematics and computer information systems major is the daughter of Chris and Debi Murray.
