Local students attend leadership conference in DC

Last week, Charles David Johnson, right, the son of Carl and Charlie Johnson and Maddie Singleton, daughter of Charles and Ellen Singleton joined outstanding middle school students from across the nation taking part in a unique academic and career oriented development experience,  Junior National Young Leader’s Conference in Washington, DC.

Both students were nominated by seventh grade teachers at Demopolis Middle School.

At the Junior National Young Leader’s Conference, students build confidence and skills needed to excel high school, college, and the workplace by learning how to adapt and communicate the changing world in technology and innovation. While in Washington both students were able to attend many memorials, the U.S. Capital with an exclusive visit to the Floor of the House, and meet keynote speaker Anthony Robles, who was born with with only one leg but became a 2011 NCAA Division 1 Wrestling Champion.
