Little, Myers combine for 4 homers, 11 RBIs in win over Millry

Sweet Water did little short of decimate Millry Thursday, using an 11-run sixth inning to anchor a 21-4 bludgeoning of their Class 1A, Area 1 foe.

The Bulldogs scored five runs in the first inning and five more in the second to take a 10-0 lead. Millry scratched out a run in the bottom of the fourth to keep the game alive. Sweet Water led 11-1 with one out in the top of the sixth when Thea Luker singled home Lara Little to push the cushion to 10. BreAnna Ramsey then picked up one RBI with a hit-by-pitch that plated Natalie Luker. Sara Irvin’s single scored Kora Myers and Elaina Mitchell to put it at 14-1. Two batters later, Little picked up her second hit of the inning and second homer of the game with a grand slam that also scored Ramsey, Irvin and Kamae Retic. With an 18-1 lead, Sweet Water was not yet finished. Three batters later, Myers ripped a three-run shot over center to drive in Natalie Luker and Kayla Marshall.

Millry used a walk, two hits and an error in the bottom of the sixth to scored three runs, setting the final margin.

Irvin was 4-for-5 in the game with two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs scored. Retic scored twice. Little finished 3-for-3 with two homers, six RBIs and four runs scored. Natalie Luker went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and four runs scored. Marshall tripled, stole a base, drove in a run and scored three.

Myers went 2-for-4 with two homers, five RBIs and three runs scored. Luker was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Mitchell stole a base and scored a run. Ramsey scored a run and drove in one. Thea Luker struck out nine over six innings of work while giving up just three hits and one earned run in the complete game win.

Choctaw County 7, Sweet Water 6

The victory came just two days after Sweet Water’s late rally fell short in a 7-6 road loss to Choctaw County. Trailing 7-0, Sweet Water began to climb out of the hole in the fifth inning. Ramsey doubled in Myers with two outs in the top of the fifth to get Sweet Water on the board. Irvin followed with a single to plate Ramsey and cut it to 7-2. Little doubled to lead off the sixth and scored one a two-out double by Myers to make it 7-3. Thea Luker followed with a double of her own to score Myers and cut it to 7-4. Shakedra Brothers but her team in striking distance when she scored on an error to make it 7-5.

Retic homered to left with one away in the top of the seventh to make it 7-6. The Bulldogs got the tying run aboard when Natalie Luker walked with one out in the seventh. A called third strike on the ensuing batter squashed the rally to end the game.

Irvin finished 1-for-3 with one RBI. Retic was 1-for-4 with a homer. Little went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Myers finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and a pair of runs scored. Thea Luker was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.

Brothers scored a run. Lindsey Davis went 1-for-3. Ramsey was 2-for-3 with a double, one RBI, two stolen bases and a run scored. Sweet Water is set to play again Monday when it travels to Chatom to face Washington County.
