Linden sours Sweet Water’s holiday

LINDEN — The hosting Patriots opened on a 17-2 run and never looked back en route to a 70-31 rout of Sweet Water in the first round of the Linden High School Christmas Tournament Thursday.

Linden (7-1) started with a flurry and shifted quickly to the bench, getting all 12 of its players into the game in the first quarter.

Linden led 22-8 after the first quarter and 37-13 at half. Sweet Water scored 16 of its 31 points in the third quarter before hanging only two in the game’s final eight minutes.

Imoras Agee led all scorers with 15 points to go along with five rebounds. Nicholas Rogers added 12 points while Christ Rogers had 11 points and eight rebounds. Savon Parker had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Xavier McIntosh led Sweet Water with 13 points and five rebounds.

Sweet Water moves on to face Choctaw County in the third place game Friday at 4:30 p.m. while Linden takes on Demopolis at 7:30 p.m. in the championship game.
