Linden police make arrest following Monday night shooting

The Linden Police Department apprehended Reginald Edwards at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday following a shooting Monday night.

Edwards is currently charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle following an incident at approximately 9 p.m. when he is alleged to have fired at an unidentified victim who was sitting in an automobile near the corner of Sixth Avenue West and Prowell in Linden.

“We found his truck hidden in the woods. I had a wrecker come get his truck,” McClure said of the search for Edwards, which concluded when he turned himself in during the early morning hours. “He was telling everybody he was out of state. Then when we located his truck, he kind of knew that lie was up.”

According to McClure, the victim was not seriously injured during the incident.

“The victim is going to be fine. He, technically, was not hit directly with a bullet. He was hit by two bullet fragments,” McClure said. “One hit him in the head. One hit him in the back. I guess when the bullet hit the car, it shattered and pieces of it hit him.”

More details regarding the case will be made available as the investigation progresses.
