Linden improving Chilly Fest Park

photo1It is not even time or cold enough for ChiLLy Fest, but ChiLLy Fest Park is busy as ever. Since ChiLLy Fest started the area has been dubbed ChiLLy Fest Park.

Last year the City was able to receive a grant from Alabama Strategic Alliance for Health for a walking trail. The walking trail was located in ChiLLy Fest Park, and made a great addition to the park and ChiLLy Fest events.

This year the city was able to receive another grant from the same program in the amount of $14,000. With this grant the city will be able to add lights, benches, workout equipment, a water fountain and a park sign.

There will be four benches strategically located in the park for rest and relaxation. The workout equipment will consist of an air walker and rowing machine to help get the heart pumping.

Not part of the grant, but a great addition to the park is a pavilion that will host many events in the future, including the band Chevy 6 on Dec. 13 during the Chili Cookers Party at ChiLLy Fest.

While older kids can play tennis at the nearby city tennis court or play on the playground behind Linden Elementary adults can walk, exercise or just sit and relax at one of the benches.

All additions to the Park are to be completed by the end of June, and Linden is planning to host the Summer Carnival on June 27, 28 and 29 during Summer Celebration.
