Demopolis, Ala. – 1-26-2016 – Demopolis’ Ivery Moore launches the game winning free throw against Selma.

Ivery Moore connected on the front end of a one-and-one opportunity with 6.8 seconds to go Tuesday, lifting Demopolis (18-1) to a 31-30 win over visiting Selma.

Selma had one more opportunity to steal the game away but needed to go coast to coast out of a timeout with 4.2 seconds to play. The Lady Saints drove the ball to within six feet of the basket before committing a turnover with 1.1 left to seal the Demopolis win.

A determined Courtney Hill cashed in a second-chance shot opportunity for her fourth three-pointer of the night late in the fourth quarter to knot the game at 30 and set up the game’s culminating sequence.

Hill led the Lady Tigers with 14 points. Areyona Williams also scored 14 points to pace Selma.

The win came just 24 hours after Demopolis suffered its first loss of the season, a 57-52 defeat on the road against Sumter Central.

In that contest, Treionna Hudson led Sumter with 15 points while Kia Dent added 12. Hill and Erica Bennett each scored 13 for Demopolis Monday while Moore and DeeDee White had 11 apiece.

The Lady Tigers are set to play again Wednesday at Greene County.
