Lady Tigers finish tournament run

Demopolis (13-8) split a pair of games in the Gulf Coast Classic Tuesday before falling to an out-of-state opponent Wednesday.

Demopolis 3, Robert E. Lee 1

The Lady Tigers scored a pair of runs in the first and one in the fourth en route to a 3-1 win over Class 7A Robert E. Lee of Montgomery.

Natalie Tatum struck out eight over six innings of work while giving up one hit and one unearned run to pick up the win.

Courtney Smith led off, going 2-for-2 with a run scored. Jessica Adams finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored. Abbey Latham went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Taylor Smith finished 1-for-2 with a triple. Tatum was 1-for-3 while Elly Brown finished 1-for-1 with a run scored.

Carmel (Ill.) 8, Demopolis 0

Demopolis followed by giving up seven runs in the fourth inning in an 8-0 loss to Carmel out of Mundelein, Ill. The Lady Tigers mustered four hits in the game. Latham was 2-for-2. Adams finished 1-for-1 while Bria Brown was 1-for-2.

Good Pasture (Tenn.) 9, Demopolis 7

The Lady Tigers wrapped up their tournament run in bracket play with a 9-7 loss to Good Pasture (Tenn.).

Demopolis led 5-3 after four innings of play. Good Pasture proceeded to hang six runs on the board over the next two inning for the win.

Courtney Smith went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Latham was 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Kendall Hannah finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI.

Taylor Smith was 1-for-4 while Tatum and Elly Brown were each 1-for-3. Alex Abrams scored a run. Kayla Montz was 1-for-1 with three runs scored.
