Lady Tigers drop Lady Aggies 12-1 in five (photo gallery)

The Demopolis Lady Tigers softball team plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to bring an early end to their game against the visiting Jackson Lady Aggies. The scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning then gave up the only Lady Aggie run of the day in the top of the third. The Lady Tigers added that run back in the bottom of the third and tacked on three more in the bottom of the fourth for a 6-1 lead before their six run fifth inning.

The Lady Tigers collected their 12 runs on nine hits. Weezie Hughes and Alysse Dunklin collected two hits each, with Madison Ford, Wessie Jacobs, Sydney Smith, Lizzie Cannon and Kylie Stokes tallying one hit each. Ford, Hughes, Stokes and Dunklin scored two runs each and Cameron, Smith, Ashton Moorer and Cannon scored once each.

Ford got the start and pitched two innings for the Lady Tigers, picking up the win. Cannon pitched two innings in relief and Moorer cleaned up the final inning to pick up the save. The three hurlers threw 47 pitches in the five innings with a .809 strike percentage of pitches thrown and combined for six strikeouts with no walks on the evening.

The lone Lady Aggie run of the game came on their only hit of the contest, a solo homerun in the top of the second inning by Naomi Jones.
