Lady Tiger JV hangs 10 on CCHS

The Demopolis junior varsity (1-2) got the bats working early Friday night on the way to a 10-4 victory over visiting Clarke County.

The Lady Tigers opened the scoring in the home half of the second when Hanna Malone singled and stole second base before scoring on a RBI groundout by Anna Caroline Logan.

Demopolis swung its way to a five-run rally in the bottom of the third to capture a 6-0 lead. Zarquashia Taylor led off the inning with a single before swiping second and ultimately scoring on an error. Jessica Adams reached on an error and scored on a RBI single by Rachel Smith. Holli Gandy dealt the big blow of the inning with a two-run single that scored Smith and Malone to stretch the lead to 5-0. Logan followed with her second RBI of the evening when she ripped a single to score Gandy.

The Lady Tigers had similar success in the fourth inning when they pushed four runs across the plate following a two-run frame by Clarke County. Tristyn Jones led off the inning with a single before eventually scoring on a RBI walk by Malone. Taylor made it 8-2 when she crossed home plate after a RBI walk to Gandy. Logan capped the scoring with a two-run double that scored Smith and Malone.

The run outburst proved more than enough for Malone as she struck out five over five innings and surrendered only four runs for the win.

Malone finished the night with a single, two walks, two stolen bases, one RBI and two runs scored. Logan tallied four RBIs on a two-hit night. Hannah Harmon singled twice in the game. Nicole Wilkinson drew a walk.

Taylor singled, walked, stole a base and scored two runs. Adams scored a run. Smith singled, walked, picked up one RBI and scored two runs. Gandy totaled three RBIs with a single and a walk.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play in a junior varsity tournament at Thomasville Saturday.
