Kallhoff bids farewell

At Supt. Kyle Kallhoff’s last meeting with the Demopolis City Schools Board of Education Tuesday, Chairman Conrad Murdock expressed thanks from the board for Kallhoff’s service, leadership and guidance for the past 5 ½ years.

Kallhoff, in turn, thanked the school board and Demopolis “for allowing our family to be a part of this community.”  He added, “This community truly, truly, truly cares for its school system.”

Kallhoff leaves at the end of March to become superintendent of Cullman City schools.

He released the following statement Wednesday:

“I want to thank the current Demopolis City School System Board of Education, (and past board members) Linda Russell and Jim Stanford for allowing my family and me to be a part of the Demopolis community.

“The work done over the past 5 ½ years in Demopolis has been remarkable. The progression of this school system has little to do with me and my leadership, but more to do with the Board of Education, dedicated employees, resilient students and supportive stakeholders. Even during its greatest challenges and darkest days, this school system has grown to be improved and stronger.

“I want to especially thank the central office staff and principals I have worked with since 2015. I have learned greatly from all of you which has strengthened my skill set and hopefully will allow me to better serve students and families no matter where I am.

“This community has encouraged us to always seek ways to grow and never settle for the status quo. Just as written in 1st Corinthians 15:58. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the LORD, knowing that in the LORD your labor is not in vain.

“I know I fall short in many areas, but it is my hope that this school system is in better condition than it was in May of 2015. May God always bless this school system and the City of the People.”
